McDonald’s Makes Apple Move Towards Healthier And Happier Kids Meals

The legendary Happy Meal is undergoing a facelift that the corporate giant McDonald’s hopes will place them as a leader in the attempt to help curb the massive childhood obesity problem in the United States and abroad. The changes will take effect in September in some markets and then roll out to all 14,000 McDonald’s restaurants in the U.S. by April. Overall the meals will see a 20% decrease in caloric counts. Now the meals will come with a toy as usual, but additionally there will be a serving of fruit or vegetables and the classic shrink French fry portion will get smaller… (Source: Health News from Medical News Today)

Interaction of human adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stromal cells with breast cancer cells.

Human adipose tissue was shown to be a very attractive source of mesenchymal stromal cells that have a wide scale of potential applications in reconstructive plastic surgery and regenerative medicine. However, these cells were described to have profound effects on biological behaviour of tumour cells. The aim of this study was to analyze the influence of adipose tissue-derived human mesenchymal stromal cells (AT-MSC) on the proliferation of breast cancer cells. We have tested proliferation of three different human breast cancer cell lines under the influence of AT-MSC derived soluble factors as well as in the direct cocultures. Predictors of Velopharyngeal Insufficiency After Le Fort I Maxillary Advancement in Patients With Cleft Palate

Conclusion: This study shows that a short soft palate is associated with VPI after Le Fort I osteotomy. Assessment of palatal length and pharyngeal depth on cephalometric radiographs is helpful in predicting postoperative VPI and need for a pharyngeal flap in patients with cleft palate after maxillary advancement.
